Edit 2025:
Heya, everyone, the post has been overhauled to a new lighting method and a new lighting entirely. I also got some parallax windows to give more depth! I'm excited to show this new version of the piece after a quick fix during this past week. I hope you all like the newer version and have a fun time looking at a piece made with summer in mind
Original 2024:
The Project was a personal piece that I worked on off and on over the summer. This project aimed to teach me the basics of proper modularity and to set up a scene for the kits to live in. This project was so much fun, and there are so many things that I learned about through the entire in-depth process of making it. One of the major things I learned about in creating the scene and kit was trying to homogenise the scale of kit pieces and make sure they all snap well together, and if need be, swap with other kits made for other buildings. One of the most enjoyable moments of the creation of this piece was the lighting and the shadow work. I spent countless hours adjusting and looking over different types of lighting formats to finally come to one that felt right, and it was very enlightening. Overall, this project has helped me feel more confident in modular kit creation and scene creation as a whole. I want to give a special thanks to my classmates and the Champlain Game Art Alliance for helping me in the right direction through this whole project.
As a final note, I used a few Quixel suite assets to fill the scene as well as decals, The cars are from The Vehicle Variety Pack from the Unreal marketplace, created by Switchboard studios.
